Mashed Potatoes with Caramelized Onions

  • 2 cups instant mashed potatoes, prepared
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Prepare mashed potatoes according to the instructions on the package.
  2. Cut onions into fine slices and cook on low flame in butter until soft; increase the flame to medium, add sugar and keep on cooking, stirring to prevent sticking, until onions are brown.
  3. Combine with mashed potatoes and serve.
