In January, Potatoes USA partnered with the foodservice team in Elk Grove Unified School District to test potato breakfast recipes at one of their middle schools. Their team of school experts tweaked four Potatoes USA-created recipes to meet their own students flavor preferences and the capabilities of their operation.
Students were excited to sample the Ultimate Hash Brown Breakfast Burrito, Huevos Rancheros Con Papas, a Build-Your-Own Breakfast Bowl, and the Denver Omelet Brunch Bowl, and then rated each recipe on a fun emoji scale. The resounding favorite was Elk Grove’s take on the Build-Your-Own Breakfast Bowl, a delicious combination of waffle fries, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon and jalapeños.
A local news channel even hosted a special live broadcast segment highlighting the student testing on popular morning show, Good Day Sacramento.
